Google Blogger (blogspot) is my favorite blogging platform not just because it is simple,i enjoy making changes to my templates,see what this and that does if you know what i mean.Some people don't like blogger for the same reason,editing templates and the like,all they want is installing plugging now were is the fun in that?

Either way we are all bloggers word press users or blogspot users.But i must admit wordpress has some cool features and seo bloggers say it was built for seo.

I have created more than 10 blogspot blogs withing the period of 2 years and i have learn't a lot things,i wouldn't want you to make some of the mistakes i made,am giving you a fresh start if you are new to blogging with blogspot. All the five things to do after creating a blogspot blog also work with wordpress.
You can do the same but this post if not general,the guidelines and steps you will see are for blogspot domains.

Without wasting much time lets get into it.

1.SUBMIT TO GOOGLE WEBMASTER TOOLS
Submitting your blog URL to webmasters tools is very important especially if you want to get organic traffic from search engines.

You can submit your blog URL to other webmasters tools but if you dont submit to Google webmaster tools you are going to face a few issues.

what you should do after submitting your URL 

1. Ask Google to craw into your site
2. Submit a site map
3. Configure your robot.txt e.t.c

2.SELECT A PREFERRED DOMAIN
Selecting a preferred domain will not be possible if you have not submitted your blog URL to webmaster tools.Just to break it down in simple terms.Your blog or website is suppose to have two versions,the www version and the non-www version.

OK so if a user was to enter the name of my website as www.website.com or website.om,both of these URL's will take the user to the same address,but the problem comes were Google bots are indexing.

Say you have a backlink from a very reputable website and it's in form of a (www.yoursite.com) and other backlinks from other websites were a non-www version was used (yoursite.com). Google bots will index these as different domains and this will definitely affect your SEO.

Make sure you log into your google webmaster tools to fix this issue and set a preferred domain.after choosing a preferred domain name whatever version of your site you or your users chose to users Google will be able to recognize them as one.
Steps to selecting preferred domain.

1. On the Search Console Home page, click the site you want.
2. Click the gear icon , and then click Site Settings.
3. In the Preferred domain section, select the option you want.

3.FIX REDIRECTS (country specific redirects)

Since last year all blogspot domains were set to redirect to the Geo location of the user.if a user from India visited your website the domain extension will change from (.com to .in ). Notice this only happens for blogspot domains and not custom domain.

Many bloggers were complaining that this affected their 

1. adsense earnings
2. problems with external commenting platforms
3. your social stats will reduce.

4.CHOOSE A GOOD TEMPLATE
choosing a template may be kind of an issue if you dont know were start because default blogger templates are not even a bit attractive no offense.

You might want to look at websites like  Sora Templates & Kaizen Template ,you will find some Google responsive templates.

What makes a Google template?

1. Should be responsive
2. All seo meta tags should be installed.
3. Should be fast
4. XML file Shouldn't be exceed a certain size
5. should be free of Malware code or Google will penalize your site

5.TEST THE SPEED OF THE WEBSITE

Now that we are almost set before we start publishing posts we need to make sure that the spend is good or better,first impressions are very important.

Go to Google mobile-friendly test ,this is were you are going to test the perform as speed of your blog.

Enter and Analyse your site with seconds it will show you were the site is lacking and recommendations for improvement.


6.Redirecting from old to new blog

I didn't know if i should add this at the button or not but just thought i did,in case you just created a new blog after learning  a few mistakes from others blogs.

You still want the traffic from your last blog to come to your new one here is a trick for that.
